the past
Thaxted Galleries was established as an Antiques and Collectables business in the 1960's, and has traded under its current ownership since 1997.
For over four decades until 2005, Thaxted Galleries traded and served Essex and the Home Counties from the same listed retail premises in which they were founded. The façade and interior of the shop were used in the Lovejoy television series and were also featured prominently in Time Gentlemen Please a classic 1950’s Boulting Brother’s film about life in the imaginary village of Little Hayhoe.
the present
Today with the introduction of e-commerce Thaxted Galleries have expanded, and now attracts clientele from much further a field. Our online period shopping emporium has grown quickly and is built upon the foundations of a trustworthy reputation acquired from many years of ‘face to face’ retail experience.
Our new showroom is located just on the outskirts of Thaxted from where, by prior arrangement, items can be viewed, purchased or collected. However please remember that we do not stock any of the products featured in the showcases.
We always try to offer a unique and diverse range of goods, much of which is ‘one off’ or very limited in supply, and whether you buy from our showroom or our website, you can be assured and confident that you will receive a quality item, an efficient service, fully supported by a no quibble money back guarantee.
